I didn’t change this post because it’s correct for 14” above the waterline but I lowered the light and PAR was dramatically higher. Will post new results soon.

Rented a PAR meter today. Good news is with the 3D Reefing diffuser and 14”AWL the par readings are very flat from rock to sand and all around. I can achieve a par variance of <20 below 100 (80-100 total range) and <40 below 180 (140-180).
The bad news is I was hoping for some spots in the 200-300 range for some SPS. Perhaps I can find a lighting program that I like the color of with some more par.

I’m currently using the BRS LPS spectrum for a 60 cube and tweaking up and down from there. cranked all the way up it’s still not hitting SPS range. The diffuser cuts about 15% PAR so I can get there without the diffuser but I like the diffuser.

I can put some lower light stuff at 180, but it will be very limited.

I think I’ll need to be happy with an LPS tank unless I change lights.

I run mine a little lower at 9-10" above the water. Different lights though... mine are Reefbreeder Photons. I've never used your lights. I'm shocked the PAR is so low though.

ok, I lowered my light and BAM! Par easily over 300 in a lot of spots. I had it mounted too high. Will post updated results soon.

Did an ICP test. Kinda interesting. High on Mo, low on Co, low on Mn. Wonder if the Mo is from a magnet? Otherwise pretty good I think. I think Mn is kind of important. Will have to look into that.

I'd check all magnets and pump impellers... does seem fishy (no pun intended)

isn't everything new on this tank? Or did you deploy some used equipment?
Redeployed quite a few things from my last tank actually. Only equipment that is new is the Nero 3, Tunze return pump and a new heater.

If the reports are true about the magnets on the feeding ring I'd remove that for starters. I'd check the skimmer motor and impeller as well for pitting or corrosion.

I did a little digging and I don’t think the Moly is likely from a magnet. I am going to look into products that remove heavy metals.

Power went out tonight. Rain storm, which I guess is rare in CA so… no power! I waited an hour then got out the generator, which is usually all it takes to get the power to come back on. Well, it’s been another hour and I’m glad I got it running. Tank is happy and so is my teenage daughter because I turned on the internet too!
