I spent some time today working on my equipment, some new some upgrades.
Switched from a Kamoer X1 to the Neptune Dos with DDR and tool out the ATS to try the Skimz Algae reactor. Also be more the Apex was added I fried my skimmer neck cleaner and decided to not replace it for room sake.
Here it is currently. I reinstalled the UV sterilizer but the new pump was delayed. Maybe it will get here today. (looking at you UPS...)
I am going to try the Neptune PMUP on the UV for much slower water flow. If that does not work, I.e. not strong enough, I will look at some other pumps. The previous one I had on was too strong. I am using the UV to help with. parasitic prevention.
As stated in the previous post I am waiting for my Neptune AFF to come in. It maybe hard to see but there is a white 3D printed funnel in the return chamber. The pellet food will be dispensed into that and will be sucked into the return line to feed the tank 2x daily. I have tested it with hand feeding. It works really good and the droid gets distributed over about a 5 min time line.
Lastly, for this post anyway, I ordered a Neptune Trident that will be here tomorrow. I need to figure out how to put it in my sump cabinet. I cannot upset the beautiful lady with me in my profile pic and she does not want equipment visible so... As you can see there is not much room for me to work with. I have some ideas but until it comes in I really can’t do much but dream. I am thinking of building a shelf above the ATO reservoir bu that will mean moving my ATO controller (not a big deal) and figuring out how to put the AFF in as it was going there.
I am open to ideas!
I’ll post more as I do more. Enjoy the hobby and remember that the most expensive part of this hobby is impatience!
(Dang, looking at the pic I need to clean mu sump glass...)
UPS got here just before 9pm last night so I could not work on the PMUP for the UV. Further I am going to need to go to the hardware store to get a few parts to complete the attachment for the pump to UV. I feel like a kid at Christmas and I am not 100% sure it is even going to work.
Just finished installing the AFS...again. A HUGE Thank you Neptune Systems for amazing customer service and fast responses. I got my AFS replaced in about a week.
Having had the Trident up for 4 days I have to say it is awesome! I love that I can have continuous testing of the big 3. I would love NS to make another Trident that will continually test other important parameters (Phosphates, Nitrates, Iodine and maybe Ammonia) to make testing, mostly, complete.
Idk what comes next for my tank as I think I have all the equipment I need but I am sure something else will catch my eye and I’ll want it.
Anyway, here are some pics from today.
My aquarium keeps having a temp issue. Every day it creeps over 81° (in the sump, a bit less than in the tank). Therefore I added a small fan in the sump. I hope this will help with evaporative cooling.
