The Tank:
  • 228 Gallons (863L)
  • 72″ L x 26″ W x 24″ H
Had a couple of hiccups, 1 door was damaged, rusty screws (both replaced immediately) 1 plywood had a dent on the edge (barely visible when installed) and measurement on the website is inaccurate.

Overall I’m happy with the quality of the tank and excited to get it filled!

Currently using a COR 15 on my 75 gallon tank running at 25%. At first I’m thinking of upgrading to a COR 20 or adding another 15 but after watching BRSTV’s flow episode which recommend 3x turn over rate, I may stick with the COR 15 for a while and see.

Waterbox’s recommendation is 2000- 2400 GHP which is about a 10x turnover

What do you think?

I ordered this exact same tank last week, and am really excited about it! How long did it for you to receive it?

It looks fantastic in your place!

It took about 2 weeks after paying for it. I got it through a fish store in Orlando so I’m not sure if that made a change.

My wife actually picked that spot. I can’t wait to get rid of the 75 gallon tank and move the poker table closer to the wall.

This is what came today in the mail.

Vertex Rx U 1.5

Packaging reminds me on an Iphone and I initially thought “ I hope they just made the product cheaper by not spending too much on the packaging. “

After seeing what’s inside the box the packaging made sense. It looks like it was built to last. Really thick acrylic and plumbing is solid!

The other one that came is a water testing rack for Red sea kits.

inquiring minds want to know -- is there water in the box yet??
Not yet. That is the agenda for this week. I have a deadline this weekend (dec. 2) to move everything. This week will be a faster pace than I wanted to and will be posting pics everyday. We will be hosting my son’s baptism next week.

This gave me a leverage from my wife to purchase “wants” on top of the “needs” this weekend.

I’ve decided on going bare bottom with a SPS dominated tank

My 75 gallon tank is a mixed reef but seems like the only corals that does well in growth and color are the SPS. My LPS hates me they’re surviving for a year but not really getting any growth. So I’m just going to go with what does well in the tank.

I’m ordered a 1/4 thick black star board so I have something to break the fall if ever a rock decides to fall. Siliconed and pressed with books for 24 hrs

Filling with RODI was slow and painful.

Tonight will be aquascape night.

I used Aquamaxx’s reef welder to bind the rocks together. I found a tonga rock in the box from the previous owner of my 75 gallon. So I placed that on top of a bigger rock which should give me a good surface area at the top.

Left most block is my biofilter block

I fell in love with peninsula tanks because of the 2 long viewing sides! The only bad thing that I can think of is that I have more glass to clean

Florida = tiled floors. I hated our floor when we moved in. But after spilling saltwater on it on multiple occasions... convenience of wiping or mopping it off ... I learned to love it.

Stupid mistake numero uno.

My new eshoppe skimmer S300 doesn’t fit my sump!!!

I’m half an inch off. It’s rated for a 300 gallon tank.

Hopefully I can sell it to at least break even.

Brs bottle for reference

^ oh bummer I know it's not easy finding find dems on the inside of sump and tank clearance right. I waited till the last min, to buy heaters as I did not know if they would fit or not.

did you get it from BRS they have a 365 day return policy you could trade it for something else??

Not from BRS. I got it from an out of town garage fish store. The stand is actually tall enough and I can probably remove the refugium partion to make it fit but I don’t think my tank will survive without my refugium
