Exciting times ahead. The new tank has been chosen and ordered, picking it up this week
Waterbox 65.4 AIO. Dimensions are 1200x500x450 , 250 litres. (48"x 20" x 18". 66g )
Went with the black stand because it will go well with other furniture in the room it'll be in.

That tank is super clean looking! This is gonna be awesome.

Yes indeed! I’m really thrilled about the fish for this tank. Fish are what got me interested in this hobby in the first place.
Setting up the workbench in the garage to design the scape. Going to try hard and take my time to get it right.

and todays numbers before the water change;

nitrates 18.7 ppm (up 2.0 since last WC)
phosphates 0.20 (I mean seriously?!?!)
Ph 8.14
Alkalinity 9.2 (just a couple hours after dosing)

I did feed pellets a couple of times this week which may explain the phosphate jump

Did my weekly calcium and magnesium tests today. No change 1500 and 500. Really seems silly to do this every week so I'm going to schedule it for a 2 week interval now.
I know, pretty darn fascinating stuff eh ? ;)
Calcium on the hanna is such a pita I hardly run it any more

I don’t have the Hanna checker for calcium but I’ve heard it’s a pain.
I use Salifert for calcium and magnesium and I don’t like those either. Seem very inaccurate so I’ll be trying something else when these run out. Maybe Aquaforest ?
Reason I’m moving to 2 week schedule is because my numbers for these never change so why bother?

Well I guess it’s time to start thinking about lights for the 65.
My first thought is to go with 3 AI Primes but I’m concerned about light coverage for the front and back. I’d like to have something that I can aim at the front. Maybe one of those reefbrite fixtures that have a full length led strip on the front and back and spots for the primes down the middle?? I’m pretty sure you can angle the strips in.

Changed the name of the thread

Radion G5’s… if you don’t wanna eat for a month. :p

In all seriousness, the AI Primes are a solid choice.

G5’s would cost me a lot more than just food! Ha!
I’m sure they’re great lights but the cost is stupid.
yes the primes are fine except they’re point light sources and don’t wrap the coral in light, just blast down from the top, know what I mean?

New tanks are so exciting! Are you considering a hybrid lighting fixture? I might look for something a little more powerful that AI primes for a primarily SPS tank personally.

Awesome wrasse choices! The only thing I would recommend is adding the two leopards together or adding the smaller one first. I had my established leopard wrasse bully a smaller blue star leopard wrasse to death in under 24 hours. I’d also try to add them early and give them lots of time to settle in.

For sure a hybrid is of interest to me. The one detail about the tank that may make the primes acceptable is the fact that the tank water depth is just 17”. They should be able to power through to the bottom.

I plan to add the leopards at the same time and they’ll be first in the tank. I’ll transfer my possum wrasse over at the same time.
Next will be the radiant and canary followed by the vrolics and finally the Labouts fairy.
hopefully that will keep everyone happy.
