Hey guys, Having an issue with a weird algae, super short, appears fuzzy and almost clear. I have recently stopped Pro Bio S and NPPro incase its bacterial based? SG - 1.026 KH - 7 Ca - 440 Mg - 1600? Nitrate - 0.25ppm Phos - 0.01ppm 1 drop of abve twice a week 140g phosminus 140g carbon changed every 4 weeks Reefer 170, Radion XR30 Pro G4, 2x MP10QD, Octo 110sss
Cleanup crew consists of 1 x Stromb 5 x Nassi And heaps of turbo snails! I feel there is adequate cuc.
What else do you have in your tank and what are you feeding and how often? (IE is your CuC hungry enough to have to get to this stuff?)
Looks like it has bubbles forming in some of the mass. I'd guess bacterial or similar yea I would however reccomend hitting it with the tooth brush. Keep the flow going to the rock underneath to prevent other organisms die off.
I agree with saltyfilmfolks and it's definitely a slime algae what's your water temp at it should be at 76 or below to prevent that from growing because slime algae loves to grow in warmer temps
And if not that it kinda looks like it's dying so I would say smell the rock if it stinks it's dying and if it is dying let it sit out in the sun for a few days and rinse it real good then put it back in and see how it does
2x Perc clowns 1x Mystery Wrasse. Vitalis Pellets once or twice a day. No other visible algaes apart from this stuff. Temp is stable at 25.5 (+-.5) degrees Cel. No smell to the rocks at all apart from seawater.
You already stopped dosing the probiotics thats good. Stop dosing the amino and vitamin for sometime. Like salty said grab a toothbrush and brush them off.
This is how my gha started. It wasn't long before there was a lot of it on my rocks. I dosed my tank fluconazole 10 days ago and it's showing some good progress. Each day it seems more has melted away. No issues with any livestock, corals or invertebrates.
If I stop the Aminos and Vitamins for to long the nutrients bottom out and my sps get super pale . Will brush off though!
Your best bet is to just go ahead and brush all of it off and buy algaefix that's what I did for my tank and haven't had anymore problems
Me too. Suggested add to plan. Feed fish healthfully. If nutrients are a bit low, give the fish a treat, like a bit of silversides (so they can give the corals a treat)
Yea and probably only feed them about twice to three times a week they eat other organisms in the water anyways also if you buy some tangs and a coal tang they will eat algae like crazy
7 days later! Continued with the above plan plus, Did a 10% water change Used a scraper on the back wall, all the fuzz peeled off in sheets Attempted to scrub the rocks clean but its very stubborn Phos still reading at 0ppb on a hanna phosphorus checker NO3 at 0.25 on Red sea Most of my acros have really gone pale since stopping the abve regimen.
