Hi, I suddenly noticed a weird growth or injury on my Midas Blenny in quarantine. I can’t make out what it is. I didn’t notice it at first. He’s eating well and acting normally.

It appears to be fleshy/red colored and all along the base of the backside of his right pectoral fin. A little more of a bump toward the top. You can’t really see it from the front. Almost looks like a second set of gills when he’s swimming as if the fin is more ripped off than the other side like a cut but I don’t think that would make sense. 5C22E406-FAEB-4D74-B46D-03EDC7F002E2.png 16DCA9A9-090C-45D4-98EE-7A6AC08D95BF.jpeg 16B2F68D-D6C6-41B2-921D-E6D19DB5F22F.jpeg B2312E4C-09BB-411B-B57D-858E2F856F0D.jpeg

Difficult to see, but that isn’t a symptom of any common contagious disease.

Midas have a huge issue with not maintaining good weight. Yours is a bit thin - try feeding it more, and more often to try to bulk it up a bit.

I can’t really see anything from the pictures, but my Midas had a weird growth on his fin a while back. I couldn’t find anything online that looked like it and was worried maybe some kind of parasitic isopod. I got some good pictures and showed it to one of the LFS employees that I consider reputable and he suggested maybe an abscess and it should take care of itself. He healed up fine and is none the worse for it. Here is what it looked like close up (he is pretending to be a plant in this pictures so that’s why his colors are different).
