so I’ve been watching this hammer for a about a month now and feel like something is either eating or scratch the branch part right under the polyps if you look at an angle it looks liek it’s been chewed off or something water is pretty much all where it should be had the same for 13 months no major issues no one else is showing signs of this only thay one head it’s 3 head hammer any idea? Not sure if i got it liek this either haha

That looks like growth remember they are branching so they will keep creating that calcium base but I’m not 100% sure

I have a torch coral that has a similar thing going on on it's base. I think in my case I may have caused the damage when I removed it from a rock I had glued it to. It's been only partially expanding for quite a while but seems to be getting better every day now. I think in my case I must have crushed it a little bit and it had to grow more good skeleton before it was back to normal.

It's a growth pattern.

Your welcome, it's the continuation of the skeletal structure as it grows.
noticed the two heads basically splitting down the line figured thats the way its splits and grows didnt know the skeleton actually frags out like that. tanks currently 13 months only and ive noticed major growth from pretty much everything last month. also is it okay to dip the hammer in RX then transfer over to a new tank?
