I’m going to redo a part of my scape with some Marco rock I have on hand, some unused, some used in my tank but dry. I can’t remember what I did when I started the tank to get rid of the old organic stuff. I have citric acid on hand, vinegar, bleach. I’ve also heard about peroxide being used?

Personally I put my rocks in bleach water with a powerhead for about a week. Then rinse super well and then I put in a bucket with rodi water and a powerhead for a few more days, I will change the rodi water once or twice. And thats it, good to go.

Well I threw them in a citric acid bath this morning. Seems to be working. Might leave it overnight and rinse / soak tomorrow.
Sounds good, I am sure it'll be fine.

Soaked overnight, a good amount of surface foamed and decided that was enough. Drained, soaked overnight in new water (with some leftover alk two part to neutralize some of the acid left over), drained that and did a bleach mix overnight, plan to drain that today, rinse one more time and let dry. I’m sure overkill but whatever. Thanks folks.
