Had this Blenny for about a week now and I check on him daily, today I noticed this large ball on its fin. Any ideas what this could be, should I isolate it is it contagious, treatment ideas?
Anything helps photos below thank you!

I'm sure someone will have a more definite answer than myself. But It looks like some type of parasite something that forms a xenoma like a microsporidia.

I would quarantine and treat.

I was hoping it was something harmless like lympho, how would I treat this if it was a parasite as you stated, and is it contagious should I treat all fish now?

Great question! I'm going to defer to someone more experienced than I. But my personal philosophy is better safe than sorry. @Jay Hemdal may have better information than me.

What are your parameters? What is your QT process?

Those are my parameters just got it tested yesterday, as for qt I have a 10g set up based on what I see is what I treat but for this Blenny I didn’t see anything that was a cause for concern until today

Can you get us a closer photo under white light?

Just an FYI - I’m really sick from my moderna shot #2, so I may be offline for a bit....

He has a great appetite, he doesn’t seem to be stressed as I know their colors change when they are, only odd behavior I noticed is swimming in front of the wave pump. The lump does flow in the water while it swims.

That does not appear to be lymphocystis. As mentioned, it could be a xenoma from a microsporidian infection, but there is no treatment for that. I would keep it isolated to see how this develops. Feed the fish heavy, these tend to get thin.

Is this something that will pass or will the Blenny have to stay isolated for life?

Microsporidians can't be treated, but they are pretty specific to particular fish species, and I don't usually worry about them infecting a broad group of fish in a given tank. At this point, I don't see anything that would tell me that you shouldn't just feed it up well and observe it for now....

I heard #2 is a no-no when it comes to normalcy. A little down and a little throbbing. Ice and Tylenol arthritis should help

Assure water quality is good as is diet.
What test kit are you using and age of tank ? A newer tank will offer potential for this to emerge. Should fall off as long as fish and water conditions are healthy

Thanks, I'm really beat up with this! 48 hours later and I'm still aching and weak with a 99.5 degree fever (sigh).

Jay my wife had a strong reaction 7 - 8 days after first shot with a fever and a very sore arm and was down and out for 2 days. I am hoping the symptoms disappear soon. I understand this isn't uncommon after the second shot of Moderna.

Wishing you a speedy recovery
