Two brand new packs of Hanna solution (exp 2025) were tested at 1.019 (consistently) by the Milwaukee (supposedly .001 high) and the same solution tested by Hanna at 1.026. Then I checked the tank water by Hanna at 1.025 and 1.027 by the Milwaukee? All tests were conducted at least twice to verified ‍♂️

And lastly:

I tested Hanna calibration fluid by Pinpoint at about 1.025.

I tested pinpoint solution fluid by Milwaukee at 1.028.

Get a refractometer. Much easier to work with and you can use it as a base to calibrate your other equipment too.

I got tired of it. I now use my Tropic Marin hydrometer and use it to calibrate a simple swing arm.

+1 find a solid variable and use this as a measuring point. Compare with others readings.
All I can tell you is reefs are 1.025-1.027
Fish only 1.023-1.025
I would stick in these ball parks.

You cant use the same calibration fluid for refracs and EC probes

One is a conductivity test, the other is a diffraction test.

Hard to follow what all you did, but if you calibrate the Hanna with its fluid and the Milwaukee with RO/di and read tank water with both, are they close?

FWIW, the difference in specific gravity between 1.025 and 1.027 is within the specifications of these devices

I’ll throw my two cents in. I have a hand held Hanna salinity checker and after calibration I kept my tank at 1.025. My buddy has a Milwaukee salinity machine and he keeps his at 1.025 also. After using both checkers on each tank the Hanna reads lower than his Milwaukee. Keep in mind that both have a tolerance + and - of X amount.
having said that, we both bought a tropic Marin glass hydrometer because they need no calibration. I’m my case, I took a 5 gallon bucket and used 3 temp probes for an average. One of those temp probes used was the Hannah checker. After my fresh saltwater hit 77 degrees I took a reading and my hanna when compared to the glass hydrometer was reading low. So now I mix my water so that the hanna checker reads 1.024 and if I ever compare it to the tropic Marin hydrometer, I am exactly where I want to be at 1.025.
I’m pretty sure my friend was showing his Milwaukee to read slightly high compared to his hydrometer.

I think the post above saying just pick one and stick to it is referring to a testing method. Stability is more important than anything else.
