That's an awesome story. I feel like my Figure 8 Puffer would be like that. Crazy how they get excited and remember us. One time I went away for a month. He seen me pop my head around the corner. Went absolutely crazy to see me. I dred the day he passes. Had him 5 years now. My first ever fish.

I agree. It really is amazing how some of our critters actually are like family.

I have had about every aggressive fish you can think of.... Sohal, Clown Trigger, Undulate Trigger,Titan Trigger, Most older damsels, Maroons can be a bit *****, Purple tangs... Lunar wrasse.... but the meanest I have ever had was a paddle fin wrasse. In a a 500 gallon tank with big angles, triggers and tangs, this thing terrorized everything while moving at lightning speeds around the tank. Spent 2 hours catching that sucker....

None currently. I'm getting up in age and have downsized from multiple tanks to a custom 65g for my two clowns and 19 BTA's.

If I may reminisce and show some attached pictures.

In 2005 I had a friend who owned an LFS. He called and asked if I had an aggressive tank running. I had a 125 FOWLR for some fisty ones. Eel, a couple of triggers, yadda yadda.

So I get to LFS and h my friend was 'you gotta take this fish she has killed ~a dozen fishes the day he got her in. I was expecting to see some monster and it was an Atlantic Doctorfish about the size of a silver dollar. I laughed and took her home. Did QT then added to the 125g. She was the boss but didn't kill anything.

As she grew I kept buying larger tanks, a 225, and ultimately an 8' 300g. I really loved her. Anyway, she grew to 16 inches and a flick of the tail she was at the other side of the 8 foot and I knew she had outgrown it. She was very loving to me and got upset if my hand was in the 300g and I didn't pet her. She could have bitten the end of my finger off but would gently nibble on my arm or hand until I would pet her. I would come home and she was like a puppy waiting and always got excited.

It was breaking my heart knowing I was confining her to a 300g. I used to volunteer at http://www.ncaquariums.com/fort-fisher cleaning the inside of the larger tanks for sharks and such and called one of my contacts. They generally don't take fishes from folks but said they would take mine. Four years ago I transported her there and she resides in a 14,000DT with other Doctorfish. I go see her often as we go to Kure Beach frequently and she comes to the glass and looks at me every time. Crazy but true.

The pics are in the 300g I was running up to 3 years ago.

***The very last photo shown is at the aquarium from a couple of months ago coming to see me.

Thanks for the thread and allowing some great memories.

My blue tang is aggressive to any newcomers for couple days. When I added my almost 2" Lamarks Angel, my blue tang would not let him come out at all into the water column for the first 4 days.

How big a tank? Mine is getting huge! We are moving to 300, 8’ hope will be large enough!
It's a 240. If you look on top of the rocks, that is the sand he starts moving around the tank the moment I finish a water change. My rocks look like they have snow on them

That’s cool! Mine moves and spits the sand also! Tripled in size in one year. We are moving our 180, 6’ Fowler to a 300, 8’ because Sohal is getting head and lateral line and after checking all possible causes we think it is tank size. Lucky to find the 8’ in Chicago and picking up this weekend. Hope everyone will be happy. Three triggers, three angels, 3 tangs, foxface, large porcupine puffer, harlequin tusk and jewel eel. This tank is awesome so we hope they will stay healthy. 8’ was the largest we could go in our small modest house with another 300 gal tank already! Thanks for sharing. I love the triggers too!
