just getting started with corals so a little more nervous about stuff than some on you seasoned vets.
Got this monti over the weekend as one of my first hard corals. I acclimated then coral Rd dipped swishes blew etc then placed on rack in lower part of tank for light acclimation this week. Noticed the little red furryness on the left side. Is this red algae or normal monti extension?

My guess would be green hair algae or bryopisis, I agree the best thing to do would be to pick it off with some tweezers. Eventually the monti should grow and cover it up :)

Pretty Monti! Hair algae, take the whole piece and put on a new plug, it grows fast. Pull off the algae on the coral.

Thanks for the info, I’m like a jittery new father. Lol.
It was a $15 Frag but wasn’t this colorful. It’s really taking a liking to the tank
I got it at my first swap this weekend. It’s already encrusting over the edge of the plug so I’m gonna let it be. I’ll tweeze it and prob set it in its place this weekend.
