I can give lighting power via my par meter but not color . I will try to remember to post the reading when I take them.
The lights will not be at full power until 2pm eastern time. I plan on getting the reading around 2-3 pm.

This is what I got for par. At the water surface Left 105, Center 625, Right 125 all taken from the middle of the tank. From the front of the tank at the bottom is L 125 ,C 350,R 150 . At the top of the rocks L 312 ,C 555, R329 these were taken from the center of tank. Man!!! This light put out the power. I may have to consider lowering the peak percentages .

I love my orphek!!! I’ve had it now for almost 4.5 months.

I have a 40 breeder with the full-size atlantik v4 I believe it’s 14” above the surface. Mixed reef with soft, lps and most recently in getting into sps.

My program is on the low side of the intensity. Channels 1&4 peak at 35%, 2 at 45%, channel 3 at 40%, I love the color the light puts out, it’s not overly blue at all, but a crispy white blue. But I have it mostly blue during the ramp up and down portions of the program to enjoy the colors for a little bit everyday.

Corey:
I started at the preset coral color but it seemed too white. After the reading I took yesterday I lowered ch.1 which is the whites to 60% for a bluer look.

I have 3 Atlantik v4’s mounted 16” above my 84”x30”x30” tank. I finally got a PAR meter and wanted to post my results here in case it might be useful to others.

Edited to add: I will also note that there are 3 cross-members, going front to back, evenly spaced above the tank. These shaded quite a bit more light than I expected. Also the returns are on the far right side, which also decreased PAR levels more than I expected.

Randy from BRS has a video recommending channels 1,2,and3 100% channel 4 at 25 % to match
the color output of the ATI bulb which peaks around the 450nm range . I made the adjustment. Now to leave it alone
and see what happens.

Other than the shading from the crossbars which you can't control, the PAR at the top doesn't seem that high. I realize it's a deeper tank but for some reason I thought the orpheks could handle deeper tanks.

Well keep in mind he is also running the main channels at 75%. I run mine at 100% peak. If he ran at 100% he would likely see ~100 additional par everywhere.

That's about right. At 100%, that peak spot at the top is closer to 350-400 and the bottom was over 200. These lights have plenty of power. I was actually running my lights at 55%, and finally got a PAR meter because I suspected they were too low. I found 75% seemed to give a nice mix of PAR across the tank without any hot spots. I'm attempting to run a mixed tank....attempting lol

I also just run the coral growth plus color program with moonights a bit longer in the morning and evening. I also run strong clouds for the majority of the day.

You just need a time point early, or late depending on when you want moonlights, at 1%. Then a time when off at 0.

How do you run the clouds while running the pre set coral growth plus color? Thanks

Oh sorry, I just took the basics of that program and modified it into a custom schedule. It’s been a while ago and don’t remember exactly what I did, sorry for not being clear.

Hey. At one time I used the coral color program, but I created my own program, which I and my corals visually like. Photos taken two years ago.
The measurements were carried out without the participation of spotlights.

Has anyone done any testing on the preset lighting options with a light spectrum meter to find out what they are ? I watched the BRS lighting reviews and they ID the best spectrum. It would the better if the program would allow to set the color/temp range like some others do. I have no idea what the presets are as far as color .

I have measured the coral color program. This will be the case if I add 10 units of measurement to my program. Otherwise, it is better for everyone to build a program for their own reef. Example: if you subtract the 1st channel and add the 4th, then there will be more PAR at the top. the spectrum of the 4th channel does not go deep. Therefore, given the location of the reef, the depth, what corals, etc. you can play with the PAR meter for a long time. Everything is very individual.

Had a question for you guys if I should raise the height of my orphek or leave it as is. I have it 10 inches above the water line. BRS reviewed the light and recommends 15" above the water. I tested PAR at my SPS half way down my tank which is 20" tall and the most intense spot on the rock center of the light is about 350-400. Channels 1, 4 at 50% and channels 2,3 at 100%. Based on the video I thought it would be way higher but it looks like my unit doesn't push those real high values. Is there a need to raise it to that recommended height or keep it as is if 300-400 is the goal for SPS at this location?
