I love my magnificent fox face and my yellow tang. Just depends on what colors you already have in the tank. I try to get something different to stand out more.

Anthias would be my first. Bartlett’s, lyretail, evansi and more. Another must have IMO, is swallowtail angelfish. Either the masked swallowtails or Japanese ones. Wrasses are a must. Have you considered clams? I know that’s not a fish but man they have some awesome colors.

As far as bright beautiful colors, I’d say my Flame Hawkfish win.

For patterns, it’s a tie between my Mocha Vinci Clownfish and my Phantom Clownfish.

I do love a Marine Betta. Have had 2 in the past and both were not very good at hiding. Right now I'd have to say the Lyretail Anthias because I have 3 of them.

2 Females

Lots of good suggestions so far.

Female blue star leopards, but they can grow up to be the less pretty male. Solution, start with two females.

Yellow coris wrasse, which is not a true coris, and is a model citizen in my tank (and a stunning yellow)

Did anyone mention mandarins yet? Need the pod population to support one, but they are very nice.

A coral beauty or potters angel is very colorful, but can decide to eat coral polyps seemingly overnight.

Neon gobies are very small, but very nice as well.

And as I think others have said, some of the designer occelaris can be quite beautiful.

Timor wrasse. Mine easily has the greatest personality out of all my fish. Beautiful striking pattern, does like my dwarf Ceriths if they end up on their backs though. But to me a CUC is expendable as a “maintenance” item
