Based on BRS and Spectrapure's media reactors looking identical (minus some minor differences on the stickers), as well, the fact that pretty much every other major online aquarium retailer stopped carrying Spectrapure after BRS bought out Marine Depot (so assuming they must have some kind of exclusivity/non-compete contract...aka monopoly lol), I suspect that some or all of BRS's RO/DI materials come from Spectrapure, but I don't have any other info to 100% confirm if they are identical or even the same grade. Given that, I will continue buying Spectrapure, even if more expensive, because they are the established leaders of the RO/DI industry.

I did not find them to be identical at all and why I switched.

Then if attempting to recharge their mix resin, ya find out it is a hot mess and ratio is off.

Spectrapure makes their stuff in house and BRS probably buys from Temu (jokes but probably somewhere bulk and cheap).

Yup. If there's one thing I learned in this hobby, it is that a lot of us are paying more money for the same thing just to support vendor's marketing department.

I'm looking but haven't found anything quite yet. I'm in planning mode, so my attention is on equipment.

Let me know if you need any help hunting down deals on any specific items. I enjoy searching for that kind of stuff.

Very true, but it depends on the items. Some manufactures sell A grade items on their website and send B grade to other vendors to resale. With water quality being so important, it's not an area I like to take risks on without more proof they are the same grade.

Some narrow reflectors for the Kessils above my vivarium and NYOS salt.

I might grab the Adaptive Reef skimmer while on sale for the new build

As someone outside of the US (and wanting to start an aquarium) seeing all the American sales is driving me nuts... I've been holding out for anything I need to go on sale and nothing has Happy for you all though!

Bought a Reef Factory Large Smart Roller, some VCA 1” returns. Needed a new impeller for my Reef Octo skimmer, found Coralvue had the pump on sale, so much it was cheaper just to buy a whole new pump.

Still need to buy return pumps and plumbing for my new 180. Might buy some live rock/sand during the TBS sale.

I spent way too much money :(

-Red Sea Reef Mat 1200
-Hanna Salinity & Temp Meter
-BRS Kalk & Mag
-Geo's Reef Super Silent Extreme CR818 Calcium Reactor
-Apex PM1 (x2)
-Apex pH probe (x2)
-Apex FMM
-Apex Energy Bar 4

Still trying to decide on a Reefdose 4, CarbonDosser, and the 20% off Adaptive Reef control boards.

What have you bought or plan to buy?

Has anyone come across any amazing deals on non-mainstream sites or on non-reef specific sites?
The Reefdose 4 is amazing !! I upgraded last year and will never go back. U can change the dosing amounts from anywhere in the world - ie while I was away for a month in Bali and my Trident showed that say Alk was trending down I could up the dose as needed and continue to fine tune Alk, Cal and Mag from the other side of the world
