I went on vacation for a week and when I came home everything had grown an amazing amount. Leathers were noticeably larger, a couple of small zoa colonies grew by about 50%, single polyp zoas that have have been waiting to grow a polyp grew two, etc. Unfortunately, algae also had a growth spurt.
House temperature was set the same and water parameters were not much different when I returned as when I left. A couple of things will have been different while I was gone. For zoas there was no spot feeding, which I did every other day since it never harmed the water parameters. So, much less food (they can eat a lot) but also not disturbed by food being dropped on them. (Obviously doesn't explain leathers or algae). And a more defined light schedule - when at home there was always a lamp or two on in the room for a couple of hours after the tank light went out and corals closed, but not while I was away. That's all I can think of. Any ideas?
