I love natural wood with grain showing.

My DIY Stand with Matching Canopy, and 65 G Tank with Oak Corner trim on edges.

Oak plywood, Solid Coners, and Oak Trim (Stained by hand Mahogany/Cherry Color)

Built 25 years ago. First Photo, while shiny and clean. Located in Kitchen, but visible from Family Room.

I'm a big fan of the color of natural wood so I don't paint it. I let the wood do its thing which is to be beautiful (my opinion). I do think that the style of the stand matters. It should not out shine the tank; but, it should complement the tank and go with the scheme of the room. I am an avid woodworker and am lucky to have collected a nice set of equipment for my wood shop over the years to make my own stand and other things. I'm currently working on this stand for my new reef tank, which is made from Hard White Maple. I have not made the doors yet. I just brought the stand and tank into my house and am setting up now. I figure I can make the doors and stuff for the inside while the tank is turning over. Gives me something to tinker with for 6 week to keep my anxiety down. :D

It used to be black but now it’s white! I try to model all the stands I build now after my Reefer stand.

I like the Henry Ford approach... you can have your new stand any color you want, as long as the color is black.

It matters if you want your loved ones to not hate you. My stand was originally cherry with a typical dark mahogany stain which did not fit at all into the home we moved into a couple years ago. So I did a color match to the kitchen cabinets and refinished the stand in a lacquer. I don't have a before photo in the current house. Here is a photo just before sanding.

After having 3 black stands, I went white with my latest tank. Black shows salt drips. White hides them

The stand should be pleasing to the room, and the tank set up. It really is a piece of art in a room.

Should the color of your aquarium stand matter? Well I'm not too sure! I have some reasons that I think we should care about the color of our stands but today I would like to hear from you as to why or why not you think it's important and what color you went with!

1. What color is your aquarium stand and why did you choose that color?

2. Do you think the color of your aquarium stand is important? Why or why not?

To be honest if it's in your home it's up to you. You can have what you want no matter what anyone else thinks.

I voted no because I don't think it matters unless it matters to the owner. It's subjective. I went with black wood because I liked the look of it, but it's a real pain to keep clean. Dust, drips, salt creep, everything shows. Next time I'll go with a more natural wood color.

I have three. I made 2. One is Osage orange wood. The other is oak flooring, with real oak raised doors, which never gets see

n. The last I just bought is dense mdf with grey oak doors, nice contrast. I can only put a picture of the first up because I am dealing with a flooded basement at the moment

Gee. Let me see. Does the color of your furniture matter or do you have green tables and yellow couches? What is the purpose of this question????

1. What color is your aquarium stand and why did you choose that color?
Black. Because there wasn't anything darker. ;)

2. Do you think the color of your aquarium stand is important? Why or why not?
Yes. I like the stand to sort of be unobtrusive. If the lights in the room are low, I want the tank to take center stage, and a black stand just sort of disappears and doesn't draw the viewer's eye at all..
What is the color of your furniture and walls in your house and why does it matter at all?
