What coral has been the most rewarding in your reef tank?

Pom pom xenias. They're not an expensive coral, but the pulsing ("chomping") action is really soothing to watch. They're actually my wife's new favorite coral (she's named it "snapper"; I think it's the only coral that actually has a name in our tank...)

I have a Woods Polyp that I bought as a 3 stalk frag.... It's trying to take over my tank now, but it's fun to watch!

How long did it take to grow to that size?

It took 3 years from the original frag to softball size. It’s been 2 years for the recovery. The frag I pictured is 1.5 years old started about 1” and is now 3” diameter.

All of my acropora are growing great. I don't have really just one but I all of them healthy and pest free

This yellow tip acro has some awesome growth patterns and grows like a weed. It may not be the most colorful but its definitely one of the most rewarding corals I've been growing

I voted "other". My first two coral frags (gorgonians) went in a few days ago so it remains to be seen if I can put them on my list.
Haha. I should update this comment a few months from now. This hobby is supposed to be relaxing. Adding those corals was the most stressful experience of my life although I'm sure it gets easier with experience. I glued one of my fingers to my purple plume sea fan. Yikes! Poor coral! So far it seems pretty forgiving. My corky finger also has good polyp extension (I think).

My zoas & anemones, I had several frag racks because I’m running out of room. I’m thinking of replacing some of my liverock with more ideal rock that has spots for better coral placement & more swim room for the fish. I’ve been debating replacing some & getting the Caribsea LifeRock Reef Tree.

My favorite is our first coral which continues to grow like a weed. We got this almost a year ago as a single head from our LFS as a thank you when my son helped pick out the hermit crabs from the empty shells when an order arrived for them. Its now well over a dozen heads and has reached the point I need to start cutting it back so it doesn't take over any more of the tank than it already has

I'd say GSP. Watching them take over the back wall of the tank is amazing to see!
Also my Montis and Birdsnests are nice because it is so easy to see the growth.

But probably Frogspawn. I absolutely love my Frogspawn, and it has been with me for SOOO long, and it may take a lot of time to split, but it is starting to split a second time so cool to see it evolve.

We all seem to have not much respect for gsp, a cheap beginner coral that just wants to take over the tank. I think it's the best deal in corals - beautiful and blows in the current with bright green colors. Glad to see it's listed as some people's favorites

I would love to have a gsp. They are beautiful but with only having a 5g I'm a bit concerned about its growth habit. LOL I love seeing them in members' tanks!

I bought this in the spring when it was about an inch across. It is between five and six inches today. I love the movement of the polyps in the current. Here it is a few of months ago:

Two large Elegance corals that I've had for years. They get a bad rep for longevity, but if you get the Australian variety, feed them and maintain solid water quality, they seem to do well.

I second this. I'm a noob reefer, my first elegance was one of my first corals, had it for a bit over a year now, and its had pretty huge growth since. Even got a second one for my simple tank just because they are that cool

Nice to see the variety in what people like here! What I like varies from day to day based on the health and progress of growth. One day it's acros, next it could be what my wife calls the "popcorn teeth" lol... her fav is the candy canes. I still love GSP, Xenia, although it needs to be rounded up from time to time. Glad to see that everyone hasn't devolved into an acro snob. Lol

I am happy everything is growing. 13 months since I filled the tank. 30 years ago I wouldn't of tried to keep a stony coral.

My rainbow acans. I've got a ton of em lol and some people just can't keep them colored up but I've never had a prob with em.

I’ve been juggling on the idea of a Goni for my nano (I don’t trust my CB butterfly with a Goni for some reason) how do people get them to grow so nicely?
