Hello everyone! i have ran into a problem Dinoflagellates i think ? Please help. It just start outbreak few days ago i'm not sure what i have done the wrong way and dinos just start growing. i did lose 1 Culture Shock sps because the dinos cover it with picture below. Also i'm at lost what i do wrong but chaetos have not growing at all i mean never grow with kessil H380 light. i did lost the first batch of chaetos due to not growing under kessil H380 not sure why but it happen and i'm not dosing any chemical since the tank start up in August and running until now. Only dosing full triton method 4 parts no water change corals and coraline aelge take off really good at that time but chaetos is not growing and die out. I have start trying to get my chaetos to grow again second time, i try it again to battle with dinos but it seem still not working please look at pictures below. Please help your input is really value to me to help me battle with Dinoflagellates. Thanks a lot!

My parameter seem to be stable since i dosing full triton start at 8 dkh, 440 cal, 1440 mag.
Current parameter test today.
8.1 dkh
450 cal
1437 mag
Nitrate 2
Phosphate 0.05

As far as chaeto, I have to dose iron to keep mine alive and growing. It requires phosphate, nitrate, iron, & adequate light.

What color and intensity settings are you using on H380?

Algae really like red light. Can you adjust the intensity/power level?

Has your phosphate or nitrate hit zero in the recent past?

What is your nitrate reading ?
Nutrients may be an issue with Dino but Dino can be beat .
Prepare by starting with a water change and blow this stuff loose with a turkey baster and siphon up loose particles.
Turn lights off (at least white andd run bkue at 15%) for 5 days and at night dose 1ml of hydrogen peroxide per 10 gallons for all 5 nights
During the day dose 1ml of liquid bacteria (such as bacter 7) per 10 gallons.
Clean filters daily and DO NOT FEED CORAL FOODS OR ADD NOPOX as it is food for dinos.
Day 5,, you can start with blue lights - ramping up and work your white lights up slowly

My nitrate reading is 2 ppm. Which hydrogen peroxide do you suggest that could be use in reef tank ? Thanks

If the last two pics are your chaeto, then it looks dead to me. Not helping in any way.

Your fuge light should be as red as possible to grow chaeto well.

Do you have any fish? What size tank? Do you have minimal rock and bare bottom?

Your phosphate and nitrate are very low, IMO. Likely contributing to your dinos as any competition is being starved out, like your chaeto. Raising both would be my advice. Personally with SPS, I target 0.1-0.2ppm PO4 & 10-20ppm NO3.

Tank size 210 g bare bottom with rocks and currently have 3 fishs, Sailfin Tang, Blue Powder Tang and Hippo Tang. Feeding frozen food Mysis and Nori only. Dosing Redsea reef energy AB+ once every 2 weeks.

Regular 3% from grocery store
Your mag slightly high-1300 is ideal

FYI, 0.02 ppm PO4 on that checker is effectively zero. So you've likely bottomed out on both PO4 & NO3.
Sound make sense should i dosing phosphate and nitrate at this time or dosing hydrogen peroxide ? both seem look make sense to me but which way should i do first ? Thanks

The peroxide method is highly effective
I have well over 100 people who succeeded with this

Dinos seem to be fairly common result of bottoming out nutrients. Dinos are extremely efficient in ulta-low nutrient systems, as far as my understanding.

Thanks a lot i will give it a try. But during battle when water change should be make ? because water change can replace foods source for Dinos to come back again ?
