I have a green zhoa that was perfectly growing. I noticed lately that polyps were strange, too elongated. Today i tenove the plug with part of the colony and saw some stony formations like sttony plates growing between the polyps. They are hard as a stone, like a hard coral. What is it? The plug was flat and clean a year ago. any idea?

Does the stony area have a fluorescence under blue light? Definitely looks like a platting coral, Monti?

Weird, it just looks like that was the rock they were cut from. I’ve had a handful of them over the years and I’ve never noticed it much apart from the “huh, what a weird rock”

Hmmmm it does appear the rock underneath is from a dead coral that the zoas grew over when the frag was cut as the above poster mentioned. It does not look alive. Are you really sure the frag was flat or was the plug covered so much with zoas it gave that impression?
