Well it may not be much but it paid off for me.

I took in a single Sunkist bounce mushroom in and had $50 credit.
the LFS had someone drop off a mini color of some SPS but it was completely browned out and looked bad. I ended up getting it for $20.
once colored up it is very similar to

It apparently loves my tank in about 1.5 years it is now 1’ across and amazing looking. Had multiple stores look at it and it is ORA pearl berry or something very similar. Same color polyps/tips/base.

i had multiple local reefers offer $100 for a 1” piece but am not quite ready to do it.

A guy was moving from Baltimore to California. Alone 3 of his Blastos were worth over $900. I paid the $900 and got the 3 blastos, acans, zoa's, paly's, hammers, torch's, Mushrooms, CUC, and I'm probably missing something but you can see that I got a great deal.

On our local facebook forum, plenty of people are happy give corals away for free or sell them for very cheap. I've gotten quite a few corals for free including hammers, toadstools, montis, zoas, anemones, and of course gsp and pulsing Xenia. The best thing I purchased from someone was a space invader chalice around 2 inches for $10. He insisted that I have it, and I wasn't going to say no to that price.

I was reading the ‘most expensive coral’ thread and it got me thinking about the flip side of that coin. What is the best deal you’ve gotten on coral? Or what is a coral you’ve purchased that is so pretty or interesting that it should’ve cost more than you paid for it.

For me, the most recent one that comes to mind is a little blue/green/yellow/orange Yuma that I got for $10 (picture doesn’t do it justice). It’s going to be quite pretty (it already is) when it gets bigger, it’s about the size of a quarter right now

This is my cheapest frag to date. My forest fire digi!

Got it for $0 - it was a free frag from JKR. :p

If that doesn’t count, then it would have to be this:

My strawberry Cyphastrea, also from JKR. Got this little guy for $5.

Unfortunately, Kentucky is a horrible place to get coral from, so there are absolutely no local reefers willing to give me a steal on some frags. :/

Best trade was a "baby" RBTA for three frag plugs, each overfilled with Armageddon Palys, King Midas and Scambled Egg zoas from a very generous local reefer.

Best LFS purchase was a frag of five heads of BEBB zoas for $20, a fifth of what they usually go for.

A couple of years ago I got the holy grail torch for $250 for a small head. At the time it was called the blow torch and it was one of the first colonies to make it to the US.

best deal I ever got was $9 for a huge green digitata colony - it was a raffle I won though.

I sold this for $40 - as far as named sps frags go that’s an insane deal for a fully encrusted frag that was 2” tall. I paid 2x that for a 1” twig. There was another frag, smaller but chunkier that I also sold for 30

Ive been debating whether I wanted to explore SPS. This specimen seriously makes me consider trying my hand at a few. So wacky looking!
