Hi there,
Long time away from this forum, but I'm trying to get things back on track.

I always test my tank water, every 15 days and every test I perform, I got 6dKH as results. Fixing kh level to 8dKH every water change 15/20 days.
But I could see that my LPS as Euphyllias (Torchs, hammers and Frogsspawn), Trumpets and Open Brains shrink after increasing alkaline reserve to 8dKH.

I always heard the best KH level for a mix reef tank was 7~9dKH.

But nowadays I was seeing my LPS better when the kh Level is around 6-6.5dKh.

How about you guys?

Hope hear back your experience soon.

Like a lot of corals they like what they are used to. Corals at 7 will not like it at 9. Corals at 9 will not like it at 7

You need to pick a level and keep it constant. Dont let it drop to 6, then jump to 8 during a water change, then let it drop to 6 again. Sounds like you need to start dosing kalkwasser or 2 part.

I’ve had euphyllia in dkh from 6-10. The changes were slow but they adapt. What definitely affects them in my experience is the magnesium levels. Until I figured it out (watching a video from YouTube), I kept blaming my dkh for poor polyp extension. I brought my mag level up to 1450 and I haven’t had an issue ever since, dkh swings included.

7 - 8dKh works for me, along with Mg around 1400 or so.

But don't change anything fast as they take ages to settle downj again.
