I just watched him move into a shell that is about over an inch.

So they can use triton shells or conch shells?

How big should of I shell should I get so when he is ready to move he can?

I'm confused about the max size of 2 inches. Is that referring to the crab itself or the shell and the crab? Herp a derp.

They prefer cone shells as listed above. 2" is the leg span of the adult crab. I've seen adults in cone shells up to 3".
