What is the one product, food or additive, that you can physically see make your corals happy as soon as it is added.

I was just wondering if you had just one product or choice of food to add to your reef tank to see an instant pop, what would it be. For me it seems to be Reef Roids. When added to the tank on Roids day, my corals just seem more happy with more fullness and polyp extension. What’s your single go to food or additive for a happy reef tank?

L-Aspartic acid amino acid. Instant polyp extension. Not sure if happy but makes them extended for food likely.

Quick question. How long have you been dosing the L-Aspartic acid, and are you using any other carbon sorce?

I dont dose it anymore but when i did it was dosed for a month. Not sure if thats a carbon source? I think its a source of nitrogen though so watch the no3. Aspartic acid is one amino acid needed by corals and is often used in building their skeleton organic matrix iirc.

How is the handling? Can you just put it in rodi and slap a pump on it? Only dry dosing? Cooling?

And why did you stop

I dosed a pinch in ro water to 300 gallons daily. I stopped because my no3 was too high at the time and aminos may raise them more.

I thought my answer was going to be Polyp Labs Reef Roids because the creatures certainly love it. But then I tried @AVAST Marine Works' Reef Jerky and there is no comparison. Quite literally everything loves the stuff.

I now create a mix of the Avast Reef Jerky, Neptune XD, BRS Reef Chili, and Reef Roids and slowly dispense small amounts of food hourly.

The tank itself has never looked better.

Tank inhabitants that clearly react to Reef Jerky:
  1. Euphyllia glabrescens
  2. Duncanopsammia
  3. Zoanthids/ Palythoas
  4. Gonioporas
  5. Ricordia Florida (not really the Yuma)
  6. Rhodactis (bounce and non-bounce)
  7. Neon green caulastrea
  8. Sarcophyton leather
  9. Flame scallop moved to a spot where could see it!
  10. Chromies
  11. Clowns
  12. Six Line Wrasse
  13. Lawnmower Blenny
