My 25 Lagoon has been set up almost four months.

It’s going through it’s “ugly stage” but really it hasn’t too bad… until now.

It just went through having diatoms, or maybe it still is, I’m not sure. I’m not sure if this is still diatoms or if it’s cyano… or… what?

Would the group please look at the picture and give me some feed back on what it may be and how to “fix” it. It’s definitely getting worse but not at a rapid pace. I do water changes once a week and brush it of the rocks and siphon it off the sand, it starts coming back the next day. By water change one week later the pic is what it looks like.

I’ve also ncluded a screen shot of water parameters. The numbers are accurate as of this morning. There’s a pic of my light temp, ate as well. I’m basically running the Ecotech AB+ template with slightly reduced green, red and white channels. The lights are on for 11 hours total and at the highest intensity for 5 hours, so a 3 hour ramp on either side with 2 hours of “moon light” on the backend tied to the lunar cycle.

A little more background. There’s 31 gallons of water in the system.
I’m dosing 1.5ml of Vibrant once a week; I’ve been doing that since the cycle completed. I also have a Dr. Tim’s waste away gel in the return chamber of the sump (maybe the combo is the problem?). I’m dosing BRS 2 part using calcium and bicarbonate. The Sodium Bicarb goes in at night from midnight until 8:00 and the calcium goes in during the day from 11:00 to 4:00. Both are dosed at 30 minute increments.

I’ve used RODI made through a BRS 5 stage system from startup. I started with HW Marinemix Reefer but I’ve since switched to Tropic Marin Pro.

I’m also running a mix of BRS Rox carbon and hi capacity GFO in a single BRS reactor. I’m thinking off starting a fuge and dropping the GFO and using carbon once or twice a month as needed. I’ve got question on the fuge setup I’ll put in another post.

Thanks for your help.

Redish stuff looks like cyano to me. More flow would help or if something like coraline covers the rocks or corals grow to block its light and use up its source of nutrients its going to come back.
