Noticed this for a few weeks, my foxface has black marks all over his body both sides occasionally there’ll be a bubble on the black spots which usually goes in 24 hours looks like acne marks on humans not sure what’s happening I do have a yellow tang and they fight occasionally could it be puncture marks?

Looks more like an encysted parasite. There are two species of turbellarian worms that cause black spots and a digenetic trematode that also does. Two of these seem to be self-limiting, in most cases they can’t fully complete their life cycle and they die out. The other turbellarian can cause mortality. I can’t tell you which you might have.

A formalin dip 150 ppm for 45 minutes under good aeration is helpful, but formalin is tough to get. A freshwater dip for 5 minutes probably won’t help much, but you could try that.

So no chance it’s stab wounds from the yellow tang? Fish has had it for a month or so and it comes and goes when the fish sheds breathing fine eating fine too

I do have a case of “white spot” in my tank for nearly 2 years have done TTM fallow periods copper treatment ( not properly) the whole lot.
And still have it in the tank. Foxface has never had any white spots neither has it flashed or shown any symptoms except these random black marks recently no new additions in around 8 months either.

I think there are too many spots to be puncture wounds. When I've seen those, there are typically just one or two and they are larger.

One option you could try would be Prazipro - it is fairly reef safe and may have some activity for worm parasites like this. Just be sure to increase the aeration when you dose it.
