I have these brown spots on my glass that are growing and are very hard to scrape off. At first I thought it was some strange coralline thing, however recently I've noticed that it's got a fuzzy growth to it also. When I go over it with my mag cleaner, the fuzzy stuff comes right off but the hard brown spots stay behind, and eventually become fuzzy again.

I took a couple pictures with my phone. The first one shows the front fuzzy part, but it was hard to get a good picture. The second shows the brown spot from the back. Any ideas?

Thank you so much for your reply @xxkenny90xx ... I was beginning to lose hope, 38 views no replies

Does film algae normally grow fuzz? The little hairs have a small nodule on the end that reminds me of some kinds of mold. Is it common for other types of algae to grow on coralline?

And, of course... I take all this to mean that a brown colored coralline is also normal? I have other corallines in the tank that are the familiar pink color.

Thank you again @xxkenny90xx

I'm really just guessing to bump your thread ;)

Fwiw I do have greenish brown coralline and my film algae is fuzzy. I'm not sure if they grow on each other though (haven't noticed)
