My tank has been up a week and I noticed these tube like things. They are growing.

Had one guy say he thought they might be zoanthids? They seem to extend and open during the day and retract at night.

tubes growing in the tank are usually feather dusters. if you notice a little filaments coming from the tube it could be a vermetid snail.

They’re not zoas and not feather dusters. A better with bright lights and different angles will help. If they’re growing, they’re feeding somehow. Anything sticking out of the tubes? Can you peak in when lights are out and shine a light in?

They close up at night and retract some. They are starting to open up more and the biggest one does look like a small zoa. I’ll try and get a better picture this evening. Nothing is coming out of them.

If they’re growing but not opening up, I’m a bit confused. If you think it’s zoa when it opens up, do you see any color? Definitely need pics.

There not opening at night. They have just started to open some during the day. Today is the first day I have turned my lights on. Idk if the would have affected color. I’m new.

You should try to get a better picture preferably when they’re “open”. Is the tube soft or hard like a shell? If it’s hard like a shell is not a zoa for sure and it’s probably a feather duster that’s why you see it “open” but what’s happening is the feather duster comes out of the tube

It looks like a tunicate (siphon at end?), my view may be poor with this photo. Is it in the darker area of the tank?

Ok so I went to local fish store and I was asking him about it. I didn’t have the pictures with me and said it sounds like aptasia. If so I need to remove that rock. What do y’all think?
