Noticed this thin blue thing that keeps appearing and retracting back into the middle of the rock.

Any ideas?

That looks like a worm of some sort, and not a brittle star. A better picture would help though, but I think I have seen what you have. Possibly a spoon worm?

its difficult to see but there’s a wee white thing in the last pic in the middle. Seems to come from that

Yeah I can’t see to get the video working either. I’ll try as again.

It’s not coming from the v shaped part. There’s a small white “thing” just above that. Seems to be from there

I don’t think it’s a brittle star. It doesn’t look like a peanut worm either. It’s not a spaghetti worm. It’s not a bristle worm. Honestly, it doesn’t seem like any of the usual suspects... I’m not sure what it is yet.

I’ve had a right good google and a good search of the site.

could it be spionid worms? I spied 2 tentacles, if I can call them that, from the same place behind the rock last night plus another set coming out the bottom of the rock too

I managed to see some of it last night with a torch but couldn’t get a pic of it in time before it hid away in the rock again.

It did look like the body of a bristle worm. Kind flat, brownish in colour and lots of little spike type bits coming off the body.

Do these have this sort of tentacle?

This is the best I’ve managed to get a pic of it. There’s seems to be a few sets of tentacles at times coming from different parts of the rock at the same time.

any ideas?
