Hi,

I have 4 Radions G4 PRO in my aquarium and my aquarium is in my living room. The fans are a little bit noisy and when the ambient becomes a little bit hot the fans are a nuisance. I am thinking on changing the lights and getting ones without fans or moving parts.

Is there on the market any light fixtures comparable to the Radions and without fans?

What do you think about Philpps Coral Care Gen 2 or Ati Straton, I think both are passive cooling. Or maybe another one you know. Are they good enough to grow SPS?

What are you opinions and experiences? Are they a good substitutes for the Radions?

Thank you!!!

Have you tried them? In your opinion are them equal or better than Radions? They are fanless, aren't them?
yes, they are passively cooled by design....

never used them myself,
but I have seen some high dollar systems running multiples and they look very clean when setup.

I replaced 3 xr30 g5 blue with 2 ATI straton and so far I love them. My tank is sucking up Alk at an unbelievable rate. All corals are growing very well.

G5 is a very good light but I like straton more.

What is the size of you tank mate?
mines a 48” with 2 lights across it but at some point would like to go bigger but not sure if I would need an extra light

My tank is 48 x 35 x 20 but it has a coast to coast overflow in the back that is about 4".

So about 48 x 30 x 20. You could cover a 60" Sps tank with 2 IMO as long as the tank is 25" tall or less. You just have to raise them up a little higher. I think ATI is very fair with their stated coverage of 30" and I think It has enough juice to cover 32" IMO. Acros are coloring and growing great in 225 PAR at the bottom.

I've been running exclusively fanless LEDs over a 6 foot SPS tank since 2009. Setup is primarily Orphek Light bars... the results are awesome.

That sounds awesome. Please post a picture of your lights/tank if you don't mind. I always tossed around the idea of using all OR3 bars but never ended up trying it. I love that you can add bars as your tank fills in or to adjust the spectrum. Orpheks are tried and true and I think they are a very good solution often overlooked.

Really great info. I have radions on my living room tank and agree the fans are extremely annoying. I’ve been thinking about making a change because of the noise. I have orpheks on other tanks and the fans are hardly noticeable. I haven’t tried the ATI Straton but it looks amazing and no sound is a huge allure to me. How’s the noise on the Phillips?

I have Reefbreeders photon with a pair of tacked on lumenbars. The photon itself technically has fans, but you can't hear them in a dead silent room. Gets my vote.
