Saltwater fish says 180 , but they also say that they never get as big as the ones in the ocean. So, if you get a tiny one you'll have it quite a while before you need to upgrade. Mine stayed under 5". And I had it for several years. Males are probably the small ones like other species... Clowns, etc.

Plus I don't recall it ever swimming all over the tank like angels and tangs will do.

Wait, on live aquaria it says they need a 250 gallon aquarium because they can grow over a foot long. Are there different types of long horned cow fish?
IDK,but mine never got that big. LA tends to exaggerate tank size for some fish
@NashobaTek is right when he suggests about LA....they are a generalized recommendation.... for example I have a 18 years Yellow Tang in a 90, they say minimum 100. It all comes down to many other factors as well, how many fish currently in tank, amount of rock, is this fish a rapid swimmer.... Best suggestion is in my eyes, pick your two or three ideal fish you really WANT, throw a thread out there and ask, 'I have a 65 gallon, can I do this and have you?' Otherwise, as many of us have realized if you can't accommodate to your desires through that, then plan slightly larger.....maybe 75 or 90.

These 2 are my 2 favorites if I had to pick outta the other 14 fish in my mixed reef. Most of my fish have stopped growing do to the size of my tank 90g so I went out and bought a 180g today.

I'm actually really enjoying my lyretail anthias at the moment. I've got a 75g and so I can't have anything too large, but these guys are really nice looking and like to stay up in the water column.
