What type of rock do you prefer to use? I'm specifically thinking about larger rock structures. Would an assortment of different types of rock look good?

I was one that used to just stack it but, recently I like the open look much more...
Pukani dry is on the top of my list but, you really need to prep it before using it as it comes loaded with dead/dry organics on it.
Reefrock dry rock it my second choice as it supper clean and ready to just be stacked.

No fan of man made "painted" rock, it's far from natural looking to me.

I like the open look as well. use the dry rock from BRS and also order some of the "shelf rock" with base, it makes for a really cool look. Kind of like a coral "tree" so to speak. I just ordered 250 pounds of regular dry and 100 of the shelf with base, ill post pictures when I do my scape.

I always like a mix of shapes and sizes of rock. I am planning to go with reefrocks.net for the new system. I will have to order a single box first to try them out and see what I get. I used marco rock last time and it was great to have both shelf's and assorted rock sizes.

I personally prefer Fiji the best. I find Tonga branch to be the least attractive unless it is in the hands of a talented individual.

Reef saver or Marco Rock (basically the same). I like that it's eco friendly, it's attractive, always free of organics and to me very easy to work with.

Marco rocks are one of my personal favorites. They're clean and really porous and nice looking.

I perfered khalini live rock back when it was still being imported. The stuff was super nice and super expensive too at $15 per lbs. Always had nice size and shape to it kind of a mix of premiun fiji and tonga branch, dense like tonga branch too.

I prefer all the same kind of rock. I'm also not a minimalist.

Is there really much to chose from these days?

I like Fiji and Marco rocks. With the Marco I've been able to break off small pieces to create caves, etc. I have Gulf View live rock in my systems before and that was ok for aquascaping, I did ask for specific size and shape pieces which I did receive.
