Early stages of an SPS reef here. The filtration, while it may appear elaborate it's pretty simple. Sump, skimmer, Fuge, and UV sterilizer.

I tried to edit it but im still new to r2r and fishkeeping so i added 4 more answers. Also, the classics is basically just filtration with a skimmer and sump.

Mixed reef - main filter is rock, I do have a HOB running floss for polishing the water and occasionally carbon and GFO.

I have a 30G sump for my 48G display, it has a filter sock, skimmer, biopellet reactor, some biomedia, and live rock in the tank. It's a reef tank

I also have a 32.5Gallon AIO with Media Baskets running Floss, Chemipure Blue, and Biomedia, with a skimmer, and live rock in the tank... Also a reef tank

Personally, to me, "The Classics" would be a couple of Cannister filters and a Hob Skimmer... but that's just me...

In my sump:

skimmer
That’s it.

I don’t use filter socks because they catch too many pods and good stuff that can be recirculated back into the tank.

I think most pods are 500microns and below, though some species adults can get up to 1000 microns (nauplii are around 100micron), so you can get a 500 micron or larger mesh with the hopes that most will swim through and you're only catching uneaten food and large chunks... Just food for thought...
