Ok, I ordered a lawn mower blenny and got this guy a few months back. I know he's not a lawnmower, I don't even think he's a blenny. In the beginning he was super chill and cool to look at (he's totally see-thru and his mouth is always open) but sadly after I lost my coral beauty (the boss of the tank) he started to become a real d*ck. He's now very territorial and as of lately he's been eating any crab that comes in the general vicinity of his lair.:rolleyes: I had someone mention he could be a sand perch, but I checked and they are not the same. Anyone know what he could be??

i don't know what fish that us exactly, but judging from its coloration and how it's sitting on the sand, its most likely a sand sifter.

maybe a few experts can chime in

edit : ZipAdeeZoa found it

They don't sift sand like other gobies, if yours ever starts shifting sand you will be amazed at how much sand they can move, they paddle with their fins and spray sand backwards, my female was killed by a jewel blenny but I still have the boy. :)

Back in the day, I built a large tank for a church and one of the fish they picked out was this sand-sifter. Well, to keep the story short, the fish sifted so much sand that caused the rock forms to move causing a mess with rock and coral.

Oh u are definitely right. He digs and then covers up and then read digs his lair allll the time. I was actually afraid that part of my main aqua scape was going to cave in! Or if a fish gets too close he sprays them with sand. I thought u meant he sifted sand thru his gills, which would of been a lot more useful lol ‍♀️
