What kind of pistol shrimp is this?

How many gallons would you recommend to house 2 shrimp of a different species? And would that change if they were the same species? I already have a fire shrimp that I'm attached to but I do want a candy stripe pistol for my YWG. Right now I'm running a 28g JBJ nano cube but I have a nice 90g rimless cube, I'm just building the money up for a kessel and the sump and everything, and it'll still need to cycle. Do you think it would be safe to add him in and just transfer everyone to the 90g when its ready or should I just wait?

But what i wish i asked the lfs if could be an option for them to get 2 pistols paired with 2 gobys paired so in same burrow had paired pistols with paired gobys so 4 of them in same burrows which think would be cool if lfs was willing to try/ do it for me idk though.but now i don't really want to add another pistol and goby as very hard to sex apparently and if any problems wouldn't be that easy to get fish/ shrimp out that burrow in sand etc and i got deep tank.

Tiger or candy Pistols are safe with other shrimps. A tiger can possibly kill a candy cane if that’s what you meant. Two pistols of the same species can pair.
I’d say a 4 foot tank is a good starting point for enough territory for competing pistol shrimps that haven’t paired.

I have a fire shrimp, skunk cleaner and tiger pistol in my IM 25. They mostly hang out in different spots of the tank but they've all been near each other and have had no issues. I'm not sure how two different pistols would work out in a similar sized tank. 2 gobies on the otherhand could be a problem. I "accidentally" had two yellow watchman in my tank for several weeks and it was a disaster. I ended up using a bottle trap to catch one and take him back to the lfs. If you aren't sure about sex, it seems like it will be 50/50.

Just based on my own experience, I'd be surprised if they bothered each other. Tigers are supposed to be more aggressive than candy stripe and mine has never bothered my skunk or fire.

Agree a candy would be fine. My tiger isn’t aggressive at all in a 13.5. Candy would be even more peaceful. Unlike the Caribbean they are basically blind and rely on the goby.

Yep, mine won't even move from his hole if he doesn't have one feeler on my ymg.

My tiger shares the tank with two peppermint shrimps in a 50g and it has never been a problem. The candy is with a porcelain crab and a pom pom crab in a 10g and they never cross paths. I think if everyone has their own place they should be fine. I think pairing with a goby helps the shrimp stay out of trouble since the gobies tend to be fairly protective of their shrimp and will shoo them back into their burrow if "danger" approaches, even if it isn't so dangerous. Not sure I'd want to try to introduce another pistol shrimp to either tank, though. Although they tend to stick to a fairly small territory they also get adventurous at molting time.

Mine doesn’t have a goby yet but kind of owns the tank. The way the rocks are he is allowed to have a burrow under the whole thing. Typically doesn’t go far from one cave he made though.

Yeah my goby gets so protective when pistol even contemplates getting close to entrance of tunnels and on rare occasions the goby lets pistol come out he chases all fish away,charges at hermit crabs and boy i never knew these little hermits could move so dang fast ( backwards at that lol) and seen ywg pick a nas snail up then dump it out the way and bite at breather tube of another nas snail lol but ive got relatively new tank so they just working out each others spots but dont think my 6 nas snails got that memo as they always burrowing or sliding past pistol+ ywg domain and poor snails always end up on there backs and go into sand asap which makes goby even more mad as can see it collapsing tunnel lol but very interesting to watch ha ha ^_^

Funny, people worry about shrimp aggression but at least in my limited experience it's the goby that's more likely to go after tankmates. You don't want to be the guy who gets too close to that shrimp!

Yeah i can sit for ages just staring at where main entrance to tunnels are as pistol + goby there and on rock where i hollowed it out making a natural cave entrance for them front and back and 2 cleaner shrimp always on this little rock plus one my clowns always hovering above and its like a general meeting point but goby wont let wrasse anywhere near or most hermits and snails.so definately the goby more agressive out of goby and pistol but nothing to bad just yet that i seen .
My 2 massive conchs are allowed though and often disrupt things but they dont seem bothered at all even though hear pistol snapping often when they around but think they to big for goby to move as one these conchs is like 3 inch long and other about 2 inches.
And as we talking about shrimps i think one mine just malted lol
Earlier today i noticed smaller cleaner had one shorter tentacle and about 20 minutes ago still one shorter and just noticed a malt at back of tank and now all tentacles same length.
But unsure how long it takes for it to shed its malt so maybe happenned earlier idk
Sorry for all the photos but im new to saltwater and still amazed with all wonderful things in our tanks and i only just begun ^_^

To answer the molting question, it usually only takes a few minutes if I’m correct.

Pretty sure just missed it happen as 20 minutes before still had 2 short antenna then see the molt and now shrimp got 4 large antenna.that would been good to see but always a next time i guess ^_^

I have a blue-legged pistol shrimp in with 2 fire shrimp and a tiger/YWG combo. None of them interact and have never been an issue. The blue-legged are wondefully loud with their claw though. It can sound like smacking two flip flops together!
