High everyone. I have a Fluval Flex 32.5 that came with a lid. I want to use my Noopsyche lights on the tank but I need a lid that if one of my cats decides to jump on the tank she or he won’t drown them selves or damage any of my tank inhabits. I did think about a canopy but I don’t think I can match the color of it to my stand. Any thoughts?

This one has a screen but they make them with a hard top design as well for keeping cats out.

I think you could get a custom piece of glass cut for far less than $250. I do not understand the popularity of these mesh top lids, the only real argument I could see in favor of them is gas exchange, but plenty of people keep tanks with lids/canopies without issue. The other reason people mention is that the glass gets salt/condensation on it and it obscures the light, but if you clean it whenever you clean the rest of the glass, it’s not an issue. Mesh tops just allow in dust and pet hair, and require you to top-off your tank/refill your ATO reservoir more often. IMO, for smaller tanks, glass lids are the way to go. It’s unfortunate that there aren’t any companies out there making pre-made glass lids for all the popular tanks, so getting one custom cut is the only option, but if you still have the original lid, bring it to the glass cutter so they can make a template from it.

No pets and dust? We already have tanks without lids do dudt was never a concern. Also when feeding I don’t have to open the top. Just remove the feeding hole top. Gas exchange is iotas t to me also. If it’s about price. Well it’s pretty cheap when I think about the fact it’s about the same price as my golden hammer coral or less than each of my MP40s or half as much as my Pax Bellum algae reactor. You get the picture.

Also i don’t use an ATO. I just dose Kalk for Top Off. So evaporation is good as it’s allows more Kalk

a gentle push to accelerate your cat to 5g would save you money on tank net cover!

Make sure though that your boot has been soaked in 0 tds RO water - so that when your cat attains near cosmic speed it does no contaminate the tank with unwanted chemicals!

Thanks for all the replies. Both of these cats have gotten into trouble, one got his paw stuck in a door and the other one was trying to jump behind the toilet and her head got stuck. If there is any way they would fall into my tank , they will figure it out.

I should be receiving my new lid anytime now… ordered it through TopLids for my ProStar 150.
