Hi all,
Using Randy’s2 part recipe I can’t find the magnesium chloride hexahydrate sold by the Dead Sea works company. What other options do people use? Thanks!

Common examples of ionic magnesium are magnesium oxide, magnesium sulphate (Epsom salts) and magnesium chloride. Magnesium chloride (MgCl2) is more readily absorbed into cells in higher amounts because chloride is used abundantly as an electrolyte. It is formed when a magnesium cation (Mg2+) bonds with two chlorine anions (Cl-). Naturally occurring magnesium chloride hexahydrate (MgCl2.6H20), that is magnesium chloride wrapped in a matrix of six water molecules, is commonly evaporated from sea water to form crystalline salt flakes. Most supplies of magnesium chloride hexahydrate salts are evaporated from sea water either from the open ocean, from inland desert salt pans or from alpine regions thousands of meters above sea level.

I believe it is magnesium flakes you are looking for
Amazon might be a good start. I would check for purity as it is sometimes called bath salts and who knows what might be added

Thank you :) I’m more looking for specific brands that people have tried in their tanks.

I use a magnesium chloride from a local chemical supplier. Brenntag. They ship it here from another location with no shipping charge. Seems to work fine. Costs are in the order of $25-$30 for a 50 pound bag.

there was two different brands. I did get an assay before ordering to insure it was 100%. Sorry I can't remember the brand name But as long as it's 100% magnesium chloride it should be fine.

FWIW the shipping of 50 pound bags can be a lot. I ordered the read sea stuff years ago at $20. But shipping was ~$40.
