hi guys so I have a twenty long that currently has a pair of snowflake clownfish and a bubbletip anemone. And I was wondering what sort of fish could I put in this tank? Any suggestions would be great!
I will list here the types of fish I would like to have in this tank and I would be great if you could tell me if those fish will be ok In a 20 long.
1.) 1 bang eye cardinal fish
2.) 1 pajama cardinal fish
3.) 1 firefish
4.) 1 royal gramma or a orchid dottyback
5.) 1watchman goby
6.) 1 three striped damsel fish
7.) 1 jewel damsel fish or a blue velvet damselfish
8.) 1 flameback angelfish
9.) 1 green chromis
10.) 1 pistol shrimp
11.) 1 tuxedo sea urchin
12.) 1 cleaner shrimp

Would any of these fish/inverts be ok in a 20 long?

Everything is good except for the flameback angel, also dont keep all those fish. Pick your favorite 4 or 5

Different types of cardinal fish will not like each other so do one or the other.

All species of damsel ypu listed are the devil. I would not put on in a 20 under any circumstances. If you want a damsel get a springeri or a four stripe. My four stripe is a giant but he’s so chill.

Firefish will be picked on by the gramma or the dottyback (because it has similar colors to the gramma and the same shape as the dottyback).

If you want an angel get a coral beauty. Aquacultured ones stay small and don’t eat coral.

Would you guys recommend going to a local fish store or ordering online? If it is online what online store would you recommend?
I would recommend purchasing from your local fish store to support them. In regards to ordering online add about 50 or so dollars to your order for shipping.

I would add one fish at a time and see how it goes. And make sure you have proper filtration for a large bio load if you plan on having all of those fish.

And why would a coral beauty angel work and not a flameback angel? Don't the coral beauty angelfish get bigger?
I wouldn‘t put an angel of any type in a 20g unless it’s the only fish your keeping. They are pretty aggressive to other fish and territorial.

20 gallons isn't a lot of tank. In the end 3 or 4 fish is probably the most you should have. Check liveaquaria to see if the fish you want are suitable for your tank size.

I recommend getting number 5 and number 12 on your list. I don’t recommend getting a pistol shrimp and a cleaner shrimp that could be dangerous.

Also that tank seems really new. I'd add some clean up crew and wait until you start dealing with your ugly phase. Once you start having to deal with algae you may be happy you only have 2 fish.

Jekyl makes a great point. It’s tough to just stare at rock and sand for a while but in the end you will be much happier

I have a watchman Gobby and was thinking of getting a pistol shrimp but while doing my research it was not compatible with a cleaner shrimp and in my opinion a cleaner shrimp is more enjoyable because you may rarely see the pistol shrimp and gobby once they pair up.
