I have the Bubble Magus Curve 5 on one tank and the Curve 7 Elite on my other tank. I went with them because they were relatively cheap compared to other brands. I don't recommend them. I've had issues with the pumps getting stuck too easily and it's very sensitive to water level changes. This morning I woke up to a full container of skim mate because it randomly decided to go crazy. Seems to happen once every 1-2 weeks. Very frustrating.
This wont happen with a Tunze skimmer as they have anti overflow. All I do is lift the cup/neck off and replace with a clean one. I have extra cup/necks for them.

I actually have a Reef Octopus EXT on order, just waiting for it to ship. Hoping with it being an EXT I no longer have to worry about it.

I'm another vote for Reef Octopus.

If you can, I cannot recommend an external skimmer enough. They are leagues better than a standard internal skimmer. More efficient, easier to dial in, easier to adjust to your specific bio load large or small, and super consistent. It doesn't need to be outside your sump either. If I could, I'd run one on every tank, but sometimes there just isn't room. Honestly though, they are more than worth the extra room they take up.

I did just get a used Reef Octopus Elite Skimmer and I'm really liking it as well. Not quite as easy to dial in or as consistent, but overall the second best skimmer I've owned. I've owned quite a few skimmers too, tunze, Red Sea, Ukula/Ultra Reef, and the only other skimmer that's come close to the RO was my old Bubble King but it was super finicky.

Reef octopus 110 for it's low cost and ease of use. Down side, skimmer body doesn't come apart.

I'm now testing this skimmer and like it. If you are on a budget don't hesitate it works

You're going to LOVE it. Hands down the best skimmer ever. I love mine and will never get rid of it. The only time mine would go crazy was my own fault. What would happen is because I'd forget to empty it and the tank would go a week without a skimmer so when I'd start it up it'd start dumping water into the cup. The best/easiest way to combat this, is I'd just turn the pump down one level and come back the next day to turn it back up. Never skipped a beat. Hands it tank, water change, water level changed, carbon or other additives, it never blinked. If I put my hands in the tank next to the skimmer, it would kill the foam head, but never go crazy and over flow. You give it a few minutes and the foam head was back to normal.

I swear by my bubble magus it is super easy and produces really dark skimmate and even pulled out loads of stuff from the tank when i was cycling it without any fish. They are also more friendly to the wallet than other brands

I run a Bubble King Double Cone 200 on my 240. Love it. Can handle any fish load I throw at it and it was my first skimmer that had adjustable pump. Made it super easy to dial in the performance.

Reef Octopus, good value for money. They have 3 ratings for sizing Heavy Bio-load, Medium and Low. Always go the Heavy Bio-Load value, and its not a bad Idea to git a bit larger size, so it can keep up with tank bio-load as your fish and corals grows.

I have been using Reef Octopus for many years on my personal tanks and in the shop. I highly recommend them especially Regal and SRO models

I have Red Sea DC skimmers in both of my tanks. I bought into the RedSea ecosystem when returning to the hobby late last year after 22 hiatus. These skimmers seem to need a lot more care, tweaking, etc then I remember every doing long ago. They work but I’d probably look elsewhere if doing over.

I am using the Octo Elite 200 SSS Skimmer and love it! I have it paired with their 6-inch waste collector with auto shutoff and delay timer. The combo works perfect on my 900 L. I had the Red Sea Reefer DC Skimmer 900 for a while. I ended up replacing the Red Sea with the Octo Elite. The Red Sea worked well but needed a lot of maintenance. I found myself cleaning and calibrating the wetness and waste level sensor too much and tried the Octo Elite and never looked back.

Bubble King Deluxe 200 Light.. love it , can dial it in real easy for dry or wet skimmate, and only have to empty the container once every 10 days cause its so big... Other skimmers with small containers had to empty out every 3-4 days.

Nyos 160 still going strong 6 or 7 years now.
Thats good! I just invested in their quantum 220. Reef octo was what I had before but way too expensive. I like it so far! Good to know it is still working good for you!

I have a reef octopus regal series. It performs great in terms of skimming...BUT I cannot get it, no matter what I adjust, to stop leak little bubbles out which end up in my DT. I have gotten it better over the last year by changing the depth of water in the sump, but still have bubbles. Annoying but it skims like a beast so...

I haven’t put it into use yet since the new rank won’t be here for a few months, but I bought an Adaptive Reef skimmer during BF sales.

I am blown away by the build quality and how thick all the material is. While thicker material may not make it skim “better”, it certainly impresses me and gives me full confidence that will last a long time. Super reliable, trouble free equipment is my go to going forward. I’m done messing with cheaply made toys
