I'm interested in keeping more inverts in my tank as they are really interesting.

However, I noticed that in the past, most my inverts (except for snails) were short lived , lasting a few months before passing on, such as starfish, sea cucumber, shrimps and urchins to an extent.

Are they typically short lifespan or I'm not providing the correct food for them? I typically fed the tank pellets and mysis, with occasionally Ocean Nutrition Red Plankton.

The inverts you mentioned don’t have the longest lifespan, but they definitely live longer than a few months. Inverts are pretty fragile so you have to you have good stable parameters, any little swing can be harmful to them and I Imagine that’s what’s happening to your inverts. It’s also possible that they starved, but this is unlikely because they are able to eat almost anything.

I've had an urchin for a few years now and my 2 fighting conchs for over a year. Swings will affect some cuc but so does copper.

I think most inverts live at least 7 to 10 years or a little longer

This urchin just diet at about 12

These hermit crabs lived 10 years

I can't keep porcelain crabs more than a year or so but they are filter feeders

Clams seem to live forever

I usually get about 7 years out of coral banded shrimp.
