Dosing pump says it comes with "PVC Tubing: ID*OD 3*5mm." Will this connect to the Icecap dosing container or should I get a different type of tubing and what size? Should I get some push fittings?

I guess I can order the dosing pump and container and figure it out, but it would be nice to get everything at once.

thanks

I have a similar setup (non pro doser/same containers) and it comes with the adapters you need to get it working out of the box. Not a great looking setup by any means but it does work.

The ice cap containers come with a small piece of tubing that fit inside the 1/4" quick connect as well as an adapter for the pvc tubing. The doser has adapters that connect the dosing head silicon tubing to the pvc tubing.

I personally changed everything out to push fittings.

1/4" natural colored line (C) from the container to a Quick connect | 1/4 FNPT (B) > 1/4 MNPT to Barb (A) > Barb inside doser tubing. Same setup coming from the out line of the dosing head and then I put small check valves (D) on the ends of the dosing line that leads into the tank.

(A) Nipple to connect to doser (Order extras! The plastic is soft and threading them is touchy):

(B) Nipple to pushfit adapter (Order an extra just in case the nipple above gets ripped off while threading):

(C) Tubing (1/4" OD):

or

(D) Check valve at the end of the dosing line into the tank. This helped me a lot with air getting into the lines:

Locking cilps:

I want to make it clear that this did not solve issues with air getting into my lines. Granted it's small amounts but it's still super annoying as I am a perfectionist. I don't know. It's a struggle

I really appreciate you taking the time to explain that and links to purchase the items. From what I understand, I can get the doser and container set-up with what's provided, but I think i'll upgrade with the info you provided.

thanks, again!!

I just set mine up last weekend.

Where was this 5 days ago?????

Oh well, looks like I have some ordering and tinkering to do.

Do you get air just on the side that goes to the tank? Or from the feed side as well?

I only get air on the side that goes to the tank, so the dosing head to the sump. I do not typically have any air in the lines that travel from the dosing containers to the dosing head. I am in the midst of redoing plumbing & a manifold so I may take this as an opportunity to add some Plasto-join stick thread sealant on the threads. I would recommend using thread sealant on the two fittings, the barb one and the thread adapter. I thought I did but maybe not enough.

I'm in the same boat. I only get air in the side going to the sump. I think the nipple provided is generic and the 3mm hose "fits" but not air tight.

I'm not getting any drips from the connection, so I could be wrong

It looks a LOT better, unless you have an elegant wait to hide the tubing it comes with then definitely give that a shot too.

Also I want to point out that with those containers you may need to try using them with and without the screw that goes into the lid. The containers create a vacuum and may cause problems with dosing. If you unscrew the black thumbscrew in the lid, it will leave a little hole that won't cause that issue.

Also! Check for leaks on the ice cap containers first!

Note that i'm on a t-slot stand so the pumps sit within the bin much higher and are attached to a rail in the back, right under the bottom of the tank. They were pulled down to better illustrate the lines
