What type of Montipora is this?

It looks like it’s branching out instead of plating.

Does anyone have a picture of what the growth formation on this Montipora could become?

These are two pieces from same mother.

Looks to be just a run of the mill red capricornis. it will "base out" quite a bit before it "plates out".

This is an old picture of the ”mother”. I split it in half so I can get 2 for the price of one lol.

That large plate, started out as a frag about the size you see on the sandbed(I was giving that to someone). That growth was maybe a year to a year and a half. It was fragged nearly weekly, as it's a very fast grower.

When I finally decided it was too much hassle to keep, I took roughly half a 5 gallon bucket full of coral out. I still see it here and there in my tank, but it hasn't got out of control again, yet.

Looks like a Red monti. Could be a Digitata or Setosa or a Cap. As stated above, they'll all encrust a base before growing up or out.
