If it eats the green, that is fine. Mix it up if you want. I'm not sure the color makes much difference.

Keep in mind that blue hippo tangs are not primarily algae eaters like all the other tangs. So feed plenty of mysis, spirulina brine, krill, pellets/flake too.

color doesn't matter too much, more about species. If the tang likes the seaweed you have RN just keep using it, if not maybe get a few kinds and see what it likes.

I think nutrition is what changes with red and green algaes, if I remember correctly one of them is less photosynthetic so has more nutrients than the other. I may be wrong though - Also the red would be less photosynthetic as it’s chloroplasts will be red which are harder to photosynthesise with (Again, can’t remember why).

I’ve tried many different colours .
omega makes red , green ,
I have not seen any fish that I’ve owned eat it .
I buy Julian sprung purple and they all devour it every time .

I’ve even tried the green Julian sprung and no one likes it .

Maybe it’s closer to a certain algae they eat in the wild?

Mine likes anything I put on the algae clip. So does the purple and yellow.
It really doesn't matter.
Hell back 20-25 years ago there wasn't all the current algaes available. We used romaine lettuce.
