They can transition backwards as long as they are not terminal phase.

Beautiful fish whatever it is. Did it cost about the same as a leopard wrasse?

I found this pic from when I first got it in feb 2018

It’s an ornate wrasse which is in the Leapord wrasse family. I’ve seen this color/pattern many times. It will change as it grows. Very nice fish
