I definitely agree. I found the same to be true with the Reef Octopus 150-SSS that I have - it dialed in extremely quickly. The only down side (which doesn't matter for most) is that it doesn't come with a built-in drain for the skimmer cup.
How do you mean? My 150-SSS and 250-SSS both had a plug that I could drain off into a container.

I just found it not necessary.

I skim pretty dry though.

Great question! Do you have the Reef Octopus Regal 150SSS and Regal 250SSS (which have drains)? I have the Reef Octopus Classic 150-SSS (which does not).

I'm in the market for some higher end coral, specifically acropora, chalice, and blastos.

That being said, the holidays are too hectic for shipping so I'm holding off on any purchases till the new year ..

I have both. I had a Reef Octopus 150-SSS on my 120 gal tank, and now have a 250-SSS on my 225. They both had a drain.

...are they the Regal or the Classic? Reef Octopus has a Regal 150SSS and a Classic 150SSS.

Both of mine are Regal's.
That makes sense. The Regals have a drain and the Classic 150SSS (which is what I have) does not.

You can always drill a drain and add a bulkhead to it.
True, but because of the way the skimmer cup nestles on to the full width of the body the side of the cup would have to be drilled. Still possible, but the challenge factor definitely increases.

I would love to find a great deal on a new or used 35-45 gallon aio or with sump / stand display tank for my home office. Even the one used one I found is still priced too close to new prices to make it be a good deal. I guess that size tank is in high demand. :( I'm tempted to get a 40 gallon breeder, purchase the drop in AIO kit for it and do that for under $200. vs. $1000-1500.

Equipment: Need 2 MP 40s and 2MP10s for my 110 gallon new build, time to get some flow going besides my return flow. If price was right I would consider the octo4 and octo2

Just a little idea. I use a fluval canister filter on my 45g
