I’ve tried every fish , coral you can imagine .
Once upon a time I was ordering wholesale and selling livestock only

At that time any coral colony was $20

There are meters for flow, PAR, pH, salinity, temperature, calcium, alkalinity, nitrates, phosphates, ammonia, copper, magnesium, and a whole lot more. BUT, what would you like to measure in your tank that is not currently available?
Rather than another parameter to measure, I would like an AI assistant to explore all information, measurements and visual observations, and tell me if everything seems OK, and suggest parameters to measure as the situation arises and the course of action to take when needed.

That would be crazy if something like that existed. Every day, you wake up, get a notification on your phone and gives you just a long list of things to fix, or what is going well in your tank.

It would be nuts.

I could see these AI‘s exchanging information with AI’s watching other aquaria and improving their predictions and diagnoses.

Another App ?
I’m surprised a “sex app” isn’t on my phone already :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Seriously tho, I do see a business opportunity here if done right, but OTOH how would you do it? esp with the current reefing dogma’s changing semi-annually….
Heck what ever happened to “Micro bubbles”, UNLS, DSB / just to name a few…
The AI would need to adapt, monitor Forums, et…might be a moving target

I would like a way to measure photosynthetic activity inside of coral... sugar production.

There are test kits for total phosphorous and total nitrogen, but they are really expensive, but we can have these if we want.

Salifert used to make a test kit for organics. I have no idea if demand was low or it was not accurate.

I doubt that I would trust most of these anyway, so can I just wish for dead-on-balls-accurate versions of the kits that we currently have?

This would be the ONE app to rule them all, and in darkness bind them :)

I'd like a portable flow meter. Something on a wand I can put in various spots in the tank to measure flow in different areas. I think this can help with consistency, and may help solve issues in sps tanks.
Yes! This!

YUP!!! :angry-face:Or any other “Algae related” parameter ….
I own 4 tanks and oddly enough its the tank with 5ppm Nitrate and .03 Phosphate is the one I have to wipe glass daily … Silicates? or Iron ? or Biome related?
who the H3ll knows ?
I also have 2 tanks that use the same RO/DI water to make the exact same salt mix. Each has around the same Nitrate 2 - 5 ppm (low i know - i also dose to help this) and 0.02 - 0.05 Phos. One had a massive GHA outbreak while the other was squeaky clean. Both have refugium. The only real difference between them is that i can't keep turbo snails in the tank that had the outbreak due to a yellow chromis wrasse and flame hawkfish that eat them like skittles. I finally solved the issue adding 3 tuxedo urchins and 2 other urchins. My verdict is that Phos/Nitrates don't really matter. Clean up crew does.

Not to go sideways off the original topic but the longevity of turbo snails miffs me: some species live years others don’t …. ditto to urchins

Sill there are some water chemistry nuances to algae growth that are not totally understood, by myself at least, nor are easily/normally measured

Adding to my already posted list, I'd like to be able to measure ammonia accurately at levels from 0.002 to 0.2 ppm total ammonia, in order to be able to compare reef tank ammonia levels to natural ocean levels.
