You know what I'm talking about. That one fish or coral that you've always wanted or is on your reefing wish list. I bet you're picturing it right now! Why have you not made the jump yet? Let's talk about your reasons...

I'm deathly afraid of killing the things that I buy, or making some rookie mistake that kills it.

I love these threads, keep them coming....

For me for fish, it is tank space. Wont put a tang in a 69g 3 foot long tank. I think the fish i'd love to have require 125-180g.

Coral? Simply money. Cool torches, hammers are obscenely expensive.

I dream of having a mandarin goby but my tank is only a 56 gallon, although it has a 30 gallon sump. I have even thought of buying one that is captive bred and eating prepared foods. I am still too worried that it will stop eating prepared foods and starve, so I have not bought one.

I'd need another tank.
I don't need another tank.

I don't know, but I may be offended by the torture and humiliation being imposed upon this furry creature.
It has been bothering me for a while and so I am speaking out for the oppressed.
Otherwise, I am wondering if its pronouns are "Gobble- Gobble"?

Can't you see the pain and resentment in the eyes of this kitty? :face-blowing-a-kiss:

Nah, he looks like the 2 year old while mom combs his hair. A love hate kind of thing. Outwardly putting on a show, but secretly liking the attention.

it'd be interesting to know where the cutoff is?
I run a 120 standard with a 35 gallons of water in the sump (including a 15 gallon refugium). My mandarin seems to have no issues finding pods.
if your sump also had a fuge i wonder if it'd be enough as well?

I have one in my 20g. Been doing great and has no issues with pods or with the reef jerky I feed to the other fish.

Its not as hard as people make it out to be. You will be fine. Do it. Just get your rock seeded with pods and watch the fish.
