I love them. They are eye catching in a reef tank. Colors can be amazing especially when the get larger.

Anyone with experience with alveopora as well? Curious how they are compared to goniopora. Gf wants a white alveopora and been thinking of setting her up a tank.
My Alveopora is in a growth competition with my Goni. My gut says they might be a bit more forgiving. God blessem!

I have a mix: teal, red, red with blue in the center, and a pink one. They are very beautiful to look at. I pretty much got them from a friend closing down there tank but most have been in my Refugium and they are thriving very well. I don’t truly feed them I am guessing they are getting since I dose heavy for my sps as well element.

I love gonis and plan a whole area of them. Have a big one, a smaller red and an aleopora. One of my favorites. Previously could not keep them alive. The new tank is awesome. Everything is thriving.

Pink is to the left of the goni. Fairly new

I'm "diving in" HEADFIRST this week with a little beauty ordered from WWC.

I also ordered an Alveopora, just because I think they're pretty and I've heard they're a little easier to keep!

I tried a fruit loops micro for my first one and while everything else did well in the tank when I upgraded the lights, it pulled in and went down hill over about 2 months.

I figured the light upgrade meant too much light and moved it to other areas not so bright but it never extended out again after the light replacement.

I went from the old IM Skye Light to a gen 5 radion blue. Every other coral responded very well to the transition except for the goni.

I am still baffled to why my goni died.
Came from a well established colony.
All other corals thrived (40 of em) in the time frame.
IT is a mystery I will never solved.
Reluctant to try again until I get some insight on what causes goni deaths.
(one possible cause of death, stung by an elegance)
^^Ditto to this. Same here. Everything else is thriving. Every time I buy a Goni it dies. My last one lasted 3 months

Thank you for the info! I've got 2 AI 16 Primes on a 50 gallon Waterbox, probably 30" from substrate. I'll be sure to start in a more "shaded" area.
