Today I have a simple question for you! Us reefers change our mind about things and decisions all the time when it comes to our reef tanks. This includes our aquarium substrate! Are you happy with what you got?

1. What substrate are you using in your reef tank?

2. Why do you love it or hate?

3. What would you or are you going to change it to?

CaribSea Hawaiian black coral. Love the look, hate that it's magnetic and sticks to my algae scraper and scratches the glass if I'm not careful.

I have the carib special grade ocean floor dry. I love the sand look and definitely will keep it. I just may try a different sand at some point. I have used this for so many years, I think I may try something different.

I have sand in some tanks and bare bottom in others. I like the ease of maintenance in the bare bottom and I like the extra layer of diversity that comes with substrate.

Caribsea Special Grade Reef sand and I love it. I'd go BB but I love wrasses too much, so that's not an option. My pair of Bella Gobies keep it nice and clean.

I always go with aragonite sand by Caribsea. It's not too big and clunky but it's also not too fine so it doesnt blow around. It is the perfect balance to where gobies can shift it, sand dwellers cant be harmed, and wrasses can sleep in it. It's easy to clean and the only sand I will ever use!

Like it - I have a sand bed and I love the look when its nice and clean. Since its a constant chore to keep it that way I can only say I like it. I have tried bare bottom but just can't seem to get used to it. That being said, most pics of tanks held up as great tanks have sandy bottoms. I would love to see some pics of outstanding tanks with bare bottoms.
