Tyree Mystic Sunset Monti (encrusting). I was given a freebie frag on an order when my tank was new. I've tried to kill that thing multiple times but it always recovers. In 2 yrs it went from a 3/4" frag to larger than a dinner plate and I frequently have to break pieces off to keep it under control. Anyone local want some? LOL....

Here’s a picture. I circled where I think the original frag was!

Be careful what you wish for. All of these corals will grow rapidly and soon become weeds you must contend with, because they'll start overgrowing other, sometimes expensive, slower growing corals. You'll have to do lots of pruning, so make sure to get some good bone cutters too (eBay, look for German SS).

leptoseris

Don't have much in yet bar a few trial shrooms and zoas as the tanks are young mind you. So just that for now.

The Lepto was a gift however.... it's happy down the BEHIND the rock work didn't realise it was there until I moved a few pieces of the rockwork when changing the aquascape a while back (thought it was my first loss)

Just taken a frag mind... going to see if I can convince it to have fun up front :p

I have had more luck with sps than soft corals, I literally can throw in any sps and it will thrive but I fight to get any soft coral to stay alive

I have completely removed 3 colonies.
Staghorn monti
Tri color
German blue digi
However the digi was reduced ny nudi's.

Right now I would say all 7 stags have good growth amd are wasy to grow.

Right now fastest/easiest would be.
ASD rainbow milli
Purple stylo
The stylo is the size of a grapefruit and almost touching the back wall.
The asd is just below it to the left.

I'm a bit yes and no. SPS seem to do well in my 10g nano but not my 50g. I put the sad corals that my 50g tried to kill into the nano and they grow like crazy. In my 50 I have this repeating pattern where stuff starts out looking nice, puts on a growth spurt, then stops and starts to die. Then I move the coral to my nano and it thrives. I've grown corals back from just a couple polyps in there.

Back to the original question, birdsnest! I just "graduated" this one from the nano to the 50. We'll see how long before it tells me it wants to go back!

Growth from March to December:

Purple stylophora
Guttatus birdsnest
Monti caps
Anacroporas (new find for me bright green and red varieties, really awesome coral)
Poicillopora are hardy but slower growers for me
My porites are ridiculously slow

Red monti cap and mystic sunset monti are becoming pests.
As far as acros go, tricolor valida and JF fox flame have been great growers for me.

Might not be anything special by most standards, but great for me!

Hollywood Stunner - I've had them grow to 12" diameter pieces with zero effort.

Purple stylo is my fastest grower, followed by green birdsnest ,followed by green anacropora.
For acropora it a toss up between Magic wand and SCOP tenuis.

It's my Monti's at the moment. All of them. Before I had a heat surge in combo with a nutrient drop which killed almost everything I had a green Birdsnest for almost 9 years which was my "Return of investment" coral because it grew so fast that fragged it multiple times per year and my local trusty coral shop kind of calculated with my deliveries of fresh and healthy Birdsnests ... well those days are gone for now
